MGraham County offers some of the best hiking trails in the United States. Venture deep into the wild of the Joyce Kilmer/Slickrock Wilderness Areas. Or take a leiserly hour stroll on the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Loop. Or cross the County on the famed Appalachian Trail as it winds its way from Georgia to Maine.
Tsali is one of the more popular single track bike routes in the area. Several loop trails with inspiring views of Fontana Lake.
Motorcycle and Sports Car Roads
The Tail of the Dragon, with 318 curves in 11 miles, attracts thousands of enthusiasts every week in the summer months. Other great roads include the Cherohala Skyway, the Hellbender and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Horseback Riding - There are several horseback riding opportunities nearby. Go for an hour or spend the whole day riding in the beautiful mountains of Graham County.
Whitewater Rafting - Just a few minutes away is the Nantahala Gorge, one of the best family whitewater rafting places in the United States.
Flyfishing - The mountain streams and lakes are filled with native trout. Explore yourself or hire a guide to try this very popular local sport.
Nature Photography and Sightseeing
There are very few places that can compare to Graham County when it comes to scenery. Majestic, unspoiled mountain and lake views are around every corner.
Bring a folding chair and attend one of the many local singings or bluegrass concerts. During the summer months there is aways something going on. Visit the Stecoah Valley Center to see a concert or local artisans at work.

There are hundreds of places in the western North Carolina mountain to search for antiques and local native crafts. Many visitors spend full days looking to add to their collections or just browsing for that perfect gift to take home to a friend.
